PACKET PICKUP: Packet pickup will be available from 11am – 7pm on Thursday, July 26th at Running Central and from 3:00pm – 6:45pm on race day.
Participants will receive an official Detweiller at Dark Brooks shirt, custom race bib, and virtual packet.
RACE DAY:
Open Race starts at 7:00 pm – This is for all post collegiate athletes and weekend warriors!  Co-Ed however, there are NO CO-ED TEAMS.
Jr. High Girls starts at 8:00 pm (Ages up to 14)
Jr. High Boys starts at 8:30 pm (Ages up to 14)
High School Girls starts at 9:00 pm (Ages 13 to 19)
High School Boys starts at 9:45 pm (Ages 13 to 19)
Graduating students have the option to run up a level or stay in the level they just completed in school.  IE, a High School student who just graduated in May of 2017 can still participate in the High School Boys Race or can opt to run in the Open Race.
There are no refunds and no transfers.

The Course:  The course is same as 2016. The course is located completely within the Benton Community Park.  The distance is 2.92 miles for boys and girls.  The course consists of grass and wooded trails with several short hills and does cross a road several times.  Flats or spikes may be worn.

T-SHIRTS, CONCESSIONS AND OTHER AMENITIES

This is a Festival! We will have a wide variety of food, snacks, and drinks including BBQ, Gus’ Pretzels and Ted Drewes Frozen Custard at our concession stand. Big River Running Company and Saucony will be selling official meet apparel on location. Meet apparel will be available Friday afternoon during the course preview and collegiate races, as well as on Saturday. Make your purchases early as meet apparel sells out quickly!

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

The meet organizer’s reserve the right to alter or cancel the meet due to inclement weather in the case that we deem conditions to be unsafe to compete or complete a given event. In general, the Forest Park Cross Country Festival will follow the MSHSAA weather policy (p. 27 and 30). In the case of lightning, we will delay the start of any event until 30 minutes after the last sighting of lightning. In the case of extreme heat, the event and remaining races will be canceled if the heat index reaches 105 degrees. The Forest Park Cross Country Festival committee will begin to alter race distances if the heat index reaches 95 degrees or we deem conditions to be unsafe to complete the advertised distance.

The varsity runners will be those that are on the line when the gun goes off for the varsity race. All others will be open runners in the open race. There will be no need to specify the varsity squad before the race.

Results: You and your runners will be able to print off the results for each of the three races later that evening by going to aliasracemanagement.com .

Directions to the Park : The park is on the south end of town. You will come into Smithton on Highway 159. If you are coming from the north (from Belleville), you will turn right on Memorial Street. If you are coming from the south (from Red Bud), you will turn left on Memorial Street. Once on Memorial Street, you will drive a few blocks down the road and the park will be straight ahead.

Buses will park at the Smithton Senior Center, which is just south of the city park along Highway 159. There will be plenty of parkingavailable for parents and other spectators.

Course Description: We will have maps for you (with color-coded lines indicating the direction the runners should run) included in your packets when you arrive. This should be a very fast course, as it is very flat. There is a paved asphalt trail that circles the park.  NO SPIKES ARE ALLOWED!!! The Smithton Village Park is a beautiful venue for a cross country meet, and we feel your runners willhave a great experience.

Concession Stand will be open and T-shirts will be available.

Scoring: River to River timing will score the meet. For varsity races, the top 5 runners on each team will be scored, running 7 per team. Ties will be determined by the 6th runner. Open will not be scored and will have unlimited entries.

Information for Online Team Roster/List of Participants is at IHSA website.

Coaches will need to bring a hard copy of participants printed directly from IHSA website to meet.

Race Numbers:    Will be worn by all participants and the name/school portion of the tag

will be removed in the chute.  Runners should remain in order

                               not leave the chute until their tags have been pulled in the correct       

                               finish order.

 T-Shirts:         IHSA Regional T-Shirts will be available for purchase at the meet. The

price is $15 for a short sleeve and $20 for a long sleeve.

 

Coaches meeting:      This meeting will begin at the starting line at 8:30 am

1)         Coaches will receive a separate packet for all boys and girls on the

            summited roster.

2)        Bib #’s will be assigned.

3)        Bib # is to be pinned to the front of the singlet.

4)       The bottom of the Bib # will be removed for scoring when the runner is at

            the end of the finish chute.

5)       Do not pin the bottom portion of the bib #.

 Girls Race:     Begins at 10:00am  Runners must be at the start line by 9:50 am for uniform check.  The starting boxes must be clear of coaches and all other non-participants by 9:55.

If the top ten runners in a race are all from non-qualifying teams, all ten runners will advance as individual qualifiers.

Timing: River to River Running and So Ill Timing will be the official timing company for the meet. Coaches will receive bibs with chips for each athlete on their rosters at the course on Saturday morning. Please return unused bibs to the registration table after your race(s). Results will be posted as soon as meeto officialshave watched a video replay of the finish. Results will not be posted until they are verified and signed by meet officials.
