The Lady Foxes hosted their only home meet of the season on Monday afternoon at Carl Mauck field in McLeansboro. The Lady Foxes have 19 girls on the team and were looking to try and be as competitive as possible with the seven other teams that made the trip to the invitational. All day the weather was great with the sun shining most of the day, but as the meet started up the clouds came out and the temperature dropped. The drop in temperature made the day a little bit tougher conditions but it was definitely better than it could have been.
The Field Events were up first and the Lady Foxes were represented in all of them except for the Pole Vault and the Triple Jump. In the Discus, Breanna Bowers barely missed first place with a throw of 98′-0″, just one foot and a few inches from the winners throw. Rebecca Bowers also threw well and set a PR of 87′-8″ to take the fourth place spot. In High Jump the Lady Foxes Alyssa Karcher took 4th place with a jump of 4′-4″. In Long Jump, Jayda Johnson jumped a 12′-10″ to snag fifth place.
After the Field Events finished it was time for the running events. First up was the 3200m Relay (4x800m) in which two of the Foxes Seniors took part. Kaylee Chapman and Jasmine Coomes have been with the Foxes for quite some time and have had a lot of success, including both being on the state bound 4x800m team from last year. The 4x800m team also had Olivia Ragan and Kylee Vaughan. The team worked hard to keep up with the tough teams of DuQuoin and Christopher, but finally ended up coming in third place with great splits from each of the girls. In the 3200m Run, Raegan Halley came in 4th place with a time of 14:05. Kelsi Barger brought in the only other Foxes third place in the 200m run. Kelsi bettered her time by a few seconds from last week and finished with a speedy time of 29.71 seconds.
The Lady Foxes did well and have a lot of work to put in for the last half of the season. For full results click here!
