Roger Minton Indoor Invitational (Marion)

On Saturday, February 24th, 2018, the Foxes went to Marion’s Health Education Center Indoor Facility to take part in the Roger Minton Indoor Invitational in Marion Illinois. The facility is an amazing site and has a 200m indoor mondo surfaced track. The Foxes took four members of the team, who have made it to state in the last couple years.
The Foxes ended up in 9th place out of 17 teams beating the full teams from Herrin, Champaign Central and Harrisburg among others.
Jake Whipple placed 1st in the Long Jump with a jump of 21′ 8-1/2″. Jake also took 3rd place in the Triple Jump with a jump of 41′-1.5″. Jake finished his day with the 60m Dash, he ran a 7.25 in the prelims and in the finals he ran a 7.19. Matt Rubenacker placed 4th in the 600m dash with a time of 1:32. This was the first time Matt had ever ran a 600m Dash and he really liked it. Wyn Duran placed 7th in the Pole Vault with a jump of 10′ – 6″. Hunter Braden was 8th in the 2 mile run with a time of 10:59.36 finishing in just about the same time he ran at state last year. Hunter and Matt also ran the mile with Hunter finishing in 14th place and  Matt finishing in 20th place. I was extremely surprised with the level of performances that the athletes turned in and how competitive they were against the caliber of teams we faced. Most of the teams were 2A teams and most of them have been training for quite a while, where as we haven’t had a single practice yet. I’m looking forward to seeing what our whole team can do during this season. Results with splits can be accessed here.
