The first meet of Hamilton County’s season started out well. The Foxes and Lady Foxes of the new 2018 season headed to Leo F. French Park in Fairfield to run the Tom Wickham Memorial Invitational. The temperature was around 75 degrees which was slightly cooler than last years temperature. Many of the Lady Foxes’ and Foxes’ parents, and friends made the short trip to Fairfield.

The Lady Foxes ran first, and this year they have a 12 runners total. The Foxes had returning runners; Raegan Halley, Leah Ragan, Olivia Ragan, Abby Reyling, Maddi Jo Maxwell, and Kylee Vaughan. They added Sophomore Jocelyn Moles and Freshmen: Maddie Karcher, Caroline Lueke, Ashlee Wellen, Jennifer Redmon and Ava Davenport.

The lady foxes finished in 4th place out of 7 teams behind Olney, Lawrenceville and Newton. The Lady Foxes were led by Freshman Maddie Karcher who placed 2nd place overall with a time of 21:05. She was followed in order by Caroline Lueke, Ashlee Wellen, Raegan Halley, Olivia Ragan, Abby Reyling and Maddi Jo Maxwell. The Lady Foxes open runners were led by Jocelyn Moles who was the 4th girls in the JV race and was followed by Jennifer Redmon and Ava Davenport.

The next event was the Varsity boys race on the tough 3 mile course. Hunter Braden led the Foxes to second place finish as a team. The boys team has 19 runners this year and a ton of talent it should be really exciting to see who puts in work and who moves up through the rankings. The Foxes Varsity 7 at FF were Hunter Braden, Theron Smith, Kaden Richards, Evan Shelton, Adam Wellen, Trace Butler and Colin Meade. The Foxes had a total of 62 points, which was second behind only Olney.

The Foxes this year also had enough runners for a JV team and then some. The JV Team was lead by Keegan Johnson with a 4th place finish, followed closely behind by Brady Thrane. The Foxes then finished in order Will Jones, Aaron Meade, Jack Aydt, Ian Stover, Dylan Halley, Raegan Irwin, Ben Irvin and Seth Davenport. The Foxes had 10 finish the JV race.
