9/21/2019 – Olney Invitational



Weather was great this year compared to heater it had been the past who knows how many years. Hamilton County had 26 of the 30 runners ready to give it their best. This year there was again only 2 races. In the past few years, the Foxes have not ran well at Olney, but they were positive they could change that this year.

The Foxes girls had 9 girls competing in the race. Maddie Karcher took 4th overall and 1st on the team with a time of 19:31.23. Maddie was one of three girls from Hamilton County to medal on the day also the Foxes had two others that received ribbons. Medals were given to the top 50 in the race and ribbons to the next 50. There were 115 athletes in the race. Ashlee Wellen finished 18th overall and Caroline Lueke finished in 48th overall. Olivia Ragan took the fourth spot for the team with a 62nd place finish and Dacey Webb finished in 91st to round out the Foxes top 5. The rest of the Foxes in order were Jordan Tinsley, Brooklyn Welch and Lenora Watt. The Lady Foxes ended up in 7th place out of the 11 teams, 21 schools were represented in the race.

The Foxes were up next with all except two boys ready to run. The Boys were looking to improve their performances from the previous years. The Foxes were also looking to show the rest of the teams how they stack up next to some of the bigger teams in the area. The Foxes took off quick and at one point Theron Smith led the race. The Foxes runners moved back and forth in position but at the end Adam Wellen finished first on the team in 24th place overall with a time of 17:19.47. Theron Smith was close behind with a 31st place finish. Adam and Theron were the only two athletes from the Foxes to take home medals. Trace Butler finished just out of the medals with a 53rd place finish. Shortly behind trace was Evan Shelton in 65th place and just second after Evan was Braydon Middendorf in 67th place. Aaron Meade also took a ribbon with his 92nd place finish. There were 178 runners in the boys race. The Foxes finished in 6th place as a team out of the 15 teams, with 24 schools represented in the race. The rest of the Foxes finishers in order were Will Jones, Owen Braden, Owen Shelton, Wyatt Brown, Austin Stanley, Ian Stover, Shawn Braden, Ben Irvin, Dylan Halley, Nathan Kaufman and Seth Davenport. The Foxes had a lot of good performances on a nice day.

The Foxes Medalists on the day were Maddie Karcher, Ashlee Wellen, Caroline Lueke, Adam Wellen and Theron Smith.

The Foxes next meet will be at Harrisburg on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at SIC College.
